Né en BELGIQUE.
Signe sous les pseudos de Jean-Claude Smit et Smit Le Bénédicte.
Après s'être essayé au théâtre pour enfants, Mythic commence une carrière de dessinateur. Il participe à de nombreuses expositions, en Belgique et à l'étranger. En 1974, il sera répertorié parmi les dix meilleurs graphistes du XXe siècle. Il a aussi organisé et animé des conventions de Science-Fiction et de Fantastique. Parallèlement à ces activités, il commence à écrire. Ce seront, d'abord, plusieurs recueils de nouvelles, ensuite des romans et des scénarios de BD. Il a collaboré avec Marc Hardy (« Garonne et Guitare »), avec Yann et Conrad (« Jason, Guduk, et Cie »), avec Rosinski (« La croisière fantastique ») et avec Disano (« Le jeune Renaudin », « Alyce et Vicky », « Johanna »). Mythic a aussi écrit quelques scénarios de « Natacha » (pour Walthéry). Pour LE LOMBARD, il imagine les scénarios comiques du « Gowap » (avec C. Ridel), les aventures semi-réalistes de « Rubine » (avec D. de Lazare puis Boyan et F. Walthéry). Suite au décès du scénariste Pascal Renard en avril 96, Mythic reprend, à partir du tome 3, les aventures hyper-réalistes de la série « Alpha » dessinée par Youri Jigounov. En 2003, il inaugure la collection Polyptyque du LOMBARD avec « Halloween Blues ». Il en confie le dessin à Kas. La Chambre belge des Experts en BD asbl a attribué en 2004 pour « Prémonitions », le Grand Prix du Dessin à Kas et le Grand Prix du Scénario à Mythic.
